We adopted Sadie almost two months ago from the East Coast Humane Society. She’s hypoallergenic like Bella and doesn’t shed so we have to get her groomed as well. Sadie had gotten pretty shaggy, so I did a before & after of her first haircut. : )

I picked up this gorgeous flower arrangement at the farmer’s market last weekend (I wish I would’ve written down the name!) AND here’s a few more frames from the weekend. Just felt like sharing… : )
***Update: Thanks to Jenny Tenney, I now know the name: zinnias! THANK you.

Sadie pup is getting bigger!

… AND I saw this cute lil’ thing chomping away during one of my recent shoots on UGA‘s campus.

The flowers are called zinnias! They are one of my favorites and I’m going to try growing some next spring. Cute puppies and cute squirrel!
Gorgeous pics Mel. Squirrels and puppies… What more could you want from a weekend! Lots of love X X X
I shot for the Banner-Herald yesterday for the first time in awhile. The Navy Corps School had its last graduation before packing up and moving to Rhode Island. I haven’t done newspaper work in a few months, and it was refreshing to mix things up a little. You can see my gallery for the assignment here. Here’s a few of my favorite frames:

Say hello to a very special couple!

Melissa + Jonathan got married on the oh-so-popular wedding date of 10.10.2010. But what makes this date so special to them? These two have been dating for 10 years (and I knew them way back when!), so they only thought it appropriate to wed on such a memorable date. One request you guys: please don’t ever forget your anniversary. ; )
The couple was married at First United Methodist in downtown Gastonia, North Carolina, and the reception followed at the gorgeous Vesuvius Vineyards in Iron Station. The weather was PERFECT. And as my second photographer, Courtney Potter, put it so well: The light was SICK. You can see Courtney’s time with the guys and brilliant work on her blog.
Congratulations Melissa & Jonathan! I had SUCH a wonderful time documenting your day. : )

I was allowed extremely limited access during the ceremony, but I got these two frames during the processional & recessional. Such a happy groom!

The trolley ride to the vineyards was so fun!

Due to complication with her pregnancy, Melissa’s matron of honor couldn’t be there. Ever heard of the Flat Stanley Project? They made a replica in honor of Noelle. Love it.

Let the magic light begin…

The couple who won the anniversary dance has been married 61 years. Amazing!

The band – Summer Daze - was totally rocking it out all night.

GORGEOUS, all of it!!!!!! Seeing some portfolio winners in this one! What a perfect couple. Love her dress, love the ring shot, love the sparkler exit picture. WOW.
Wowwww!!! That opening shot with the cool light is AMAZING. So many good shots. You make me want to be a wedding crasher.
mel, i love your take of the day! you have such a beautiful eye for detail and personalities—this is one of my favorite weddings on your blog. yay!

Elegant!
[...] privilege to photograph some beautiful preemie babies over the holidays, because Melissa – a past bride of mine – contacted me about photographing at the NICU where she works. She thought it would be great [...]

Bethany & Rob were married in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina in mid-October. I think October is my favorite month for many reasons. On this particular day, it was because the weather was so pleasant! Their ceremony was in the morning at Christ Church, and their midday reception was held at Caffe Luna – a cute, elegant Italian-Tuscan cafe. Congratulations Bethany and Rob – you two are a ton o’ fun!

I wasn’t allowed to photograph during the ceremony, but I did grab a couple quick frames during the processional and recessional.

Love the thumbs up. : )

Bethany’s mom got teary-eyed during her and Rob’s first dance. Awww. : )

Everyone got pretty emotional during toast time!

HANDS DOWN most funny picture from a cake-cutting. EVER.

What great shots!
There are some really special moments captured here. Kinda makes all the hustling around in the batman camera belt and staying sober worth it doesn’t it?
Love how your photos tell a story.
Beautiful!
