THANKFUL

On one of my recent shoots in Athens, I shot this frame and have been meaning to share it. I thought this was the perfect day. : )  I am so thankful for everything in my life… including my fiance, my family, my friends, my pups… and quiet, serene mornings like this. Little moments like this help me to remember to slow down and take in the beauty and awe of the universe. Yesterday I did yoga for the first time in months, and my teacher shared this meditation about cultivating gratitude. I wanted to pass it along and quote the last phrase of the text by Eckhart: “If the only prayer you said in your whole life was ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.”

SARAH + BRETT – Gaston Country Club Wedding

Sarah + Brett were married on a crisp day in mid-November. The colors outside were phenomenal; I couldn’t get enough of the bright red, yellow and orange leaves! I had been wanting to shoot in the mountains for awhile, and although this wedding didn’t occur in the mountains, it DID satiate my urge to capture all the splendor and beauty of fall. I am thankful for finally having the opportunity to do so. : )

Sarah & Brett trusted me completely on their big day. As a photographer (and person), this makes me feel so great and gives me extra confidence to make pictures that capture the genuine love they share. They were married at the beautiful Cathedral of St. Patrick in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the celebration afterward was held at the Gaston Country Club in Gastonia.

Bridal gown & bridesmaid attire – purchased at New York Bride and Groom
Groom & groomsmen attire – Men’s Wearhouse
Makeup & hair – William Henry Salon
Flowers & cake – Harris Teeter
DJ – Jerry Parker

Congratulations you guys! It was so great working with you two and your families. Your wedding was my last of 2010 and holds a special place in my heart!

So handsome. So gorgeous.

When Sarah’s parents met, her father was a captain in the army and her mother was an army nurse. When they got married, he received a sword from his crew with their names and wedding date engraved. Sarah is the youngest of three girls, and now the same sword has all three sisters and spouses with their wedding dates engraved. Special, eh?

One of the cool favors from the wedding. Love it!

Sarah’s dad sang their first dance song to Sarah’s mom at the reception. It was adorable.

If ya liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it… [the music video never gets old]

Ron and Charlotte Dockery - What beautiful pictures…everyone looked radiant…the reception must have been a hoot…thanks for posting these photos on Facebook…we so wanted to be there, but at least these pictures make up for not being able to be there in the flesh…the wedding gown was just awesome…all the groomsmen and the groom looked sharp in their tuxedos…was that Joe singing “Evergreen” to Susan?
Have a wonderful honeymoon…

L. - Melissa, will you ask the Bride where she was able to find a place that did those sunglasses all the same color? I am having trouble finding a single color, there seems to be multi color sunglasses but not just single color.
Love the pictures!
Thank you

LAURA + MATTHEW – Carlos Hellenic Center Wedding

Just look at that love! When I met Laura & Matt, I could tell their wedding was going to be an emotional day. They are so personable and so thankful for everything that has come their way. They were married at the beginning of November at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Atlanta, Georgia and their reception was held at the Thalia N. Carlos Center. It was a lovely, albeit chilly, day; Laura & Matt and the wedding party were all super troopers. : ) I had a great time documenting it all. Congratulations you two!

Also, since I always get tons of inquiries about other vendors, I’m going to start including some additional information for each wedding on the blog as a resource for others:

Bridal gown – Casablanca
Bridesmaids – Belsoie by Jasmine Bridal
Groom & groomsmen – Men’s Wearhouse
Makeup & hair – Siggers Hairdressers
Florals – Firefly Studios
Wedding cake – Special Touch Cakes, Susie Glover; Groom’s cake – Sweet N’ Sinful
Music – D.J. Bobby T
Caterer – Proof of the Pudding

And thanks so much to Jenny Tenney for coming down from North Carolina to shoot! You can see her beautiful photos on her blog. I grabbed this quick frame of the guys before heading over to hang with the girls…

Meet Maddux – the couple’s CUTE pup. You’ll see him later in the post… : )

Since Laura’s grandmother could not attend, she pinned one of her beautiful vintage brooches on her bouquet. So pretty!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… There’s nothing more special than a grinning groom at the end of the aisle!

The flower girl (Laura’s sister’s daughter) was super excited for the couple! : )

STUN.NING.

Another one of my favorites from the day:

Insert Maddux – the groom’s cake! Absolutely love it.

Insert kids ready to demolish Maddux. Don’t you love how kids are always the most attentive during the cake cutting? I do. : )

The children at this wedding were SO precious…

Teach me how to Dougie…!

Laura was super excited that this friend caught the bouquet. ; )
