Ohhhh how I LOVE this family. I’ve done a few shoots with Luke & Conner now [1, 2], and it’s so amazing to see how personalities develop as kids grow up. Now that they are two years old, I can tell that Luke is the more mischievous one and Conner is the more pensive one. And it totally shows up in the photos! Mike and Mel, thanks for continuing me the privilege of photographing y’all! I had a blast! Lots of love. : )
Remember Kristin’s bridal session? I couldn’t take a bad photo of her then, and it was impossible to take a bad photo of her and Reed a few weeks ago on their wedding day. This is one gorgeous couple — inside and out! And that’s why this post is super long. : ) Go refill your coffee and enjoy the lovely wedding day of Kristin & Reed in Greensboro, North Carolina. Congratulations to the happy couple and warmest wishes! [AND a special thanks to Lauren Cowart Photography for assisting me that day!]
Last weekend, I married the man of my dreams. It was hands down the happiest day of my life thus far. I didn’t want it to end! We won’t be honeymoonin’ until the end of July, so that means back to work for Ryan and me (for now).
I wanted to take this opportunity to blog quickly about hiring a great wedding photographer. Time and time again, I stress to potential bride & grooms about how invaluable it is to invest in a great photographer: “I know it may seem like a lot of money now, but think about the return investment… Are you willing to pay a little more to have amazing photos that you’ll cherish forever or pay half as much and regret your decision in the long run?” Now, the weightof what I emphasize on a weekly basis only actually hit me the day after my wedding. I woke up and I said, “Why does it have to be over?!” Even yesterday in an email, my hubs said, “I appreciate more than ever now how important having amazing photos of the day is … I never want to lose these memories.” Amen to that. And that’s why we invested in FABULOUS wedding photographers (The Schultzes) AND videographers (Nathan Clendenin & Stephen Garrett of Cana Collective). I’m excited to see what they captured so Ryan and I can relive the day over and over again! For now, here are a few snaps that my wonderful maid of honor took with her iPhone. : ) (That’s my daddio in the bottom left corner!)
*** Before I blog this awesome wedding, I have a quick side note: I will be marrying the love of my life next weekend, so I’ll be under the radar for the next couple of weeks finishing all the last-minute details for my own wedding. Thank you in advance for your patience! : ) ***
Lisa & Ed’s wedding day was a blast… despite the rain. Yes, yes… the weather fairies were not on our side that day. About 30 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start, a honking set of black clouds and 50 mph winds (not accurate, haha, just what it felt like to me!) rolled in. Sadly, they had to move their oceanfront ceremony inside at the last minute. However disappointing the weather, they were equally as happy and excited to get married. Love how it all worked out. : ) We were able to sneak in a few portraits before and after those threatening clouds. Here is one of my favorites from after the ceremony:
Remember this shot from Chris & Lila’s engagement session? It was such a beauty that we had to do it again at their wedding:
Lila & Chris’s wedding day was a breath of fresh air: perfectly low key (as one friend put it) and all about community. It was a true collaboration of many talented friends that made their day so special. Some highlights: their flowers were sourced locally and arranged by family and friends; they had a friend make their (tasty) wedding cake(s!); friends of the couple played beautiful music during the ceremony and cocktail hour… and on, and on…
I have become fond of this pair since meeting them only a few months ago, and I thought very highly of this wedding. For those of you who know me well, I’m a pretty emotional person to start… but this ceremony just really touched me. So eloquent, so peaceful, so beautiful: a gathering to witness two hearts “officially” join as one. I was wiping away tears from behind my camera. And the toasts! My goodness the toasts! So touching. I am truly honored to have been a part of Lila & Chris’s special day with their closest friends and family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and congratulations!
